Guard against teething discomfort

Is your baby or grandchild a few months old, chewing on fingers, drooling and unusually cranky?
This may signal the arrival of baby teeth.  Some babies get their first tooth at three months, others at 12 months.

Spotting the signs and symptoms
Teething symptoms include drooling, night-time crying and ‘clingy’ behaviour, decreased appetite, red cheeks and compulsive chewing. The gums may look sore, red and inflamed. To tell if a baby is teething, rub your forefinger along baby’s gumline and feel for a bump in the gum or the top of a tooth. If your baby develops a high fever, diarrhoea or vomiting, consult your doctor. These are not symptoms of teething.

To guard against teething discomfort:

  • Wipe baby's face to remove drool and prevent rashes.
  • Allow baby to chew on a safe, cold teething ring.
  • Place a clean, cold and wet cloth against the gum.
  • Avoid salty or acidic foods.
  • With a clean finger, rub Guardian Oral Pain Relief Gel* on the gums to provide effective pain relief.
